TORONTO - Porter Airlines is ratching up the competition on the Toronto-Quebec City route as it launches a once-daily service between the two cities as part of its summer schedule - heightening competition in a market that hasn’t had much rivalry until recently.
WestJet Airlines Inc. only started flying to Quebec City this year, several years after first announcing its intention to do so and two years after the demise of Montreal-based Jetsgo. Like Jetsgo before it, WestJet has credited the arrival of competition with Air Canada for a decline in fares on the route.

TORONTO - Ontario’s Tourism Ministry issued a flurry of spending announcements today totalling about $683,000 for various events and activities in Ontario.
The largest amount, $100,000, will be shared by three events in the Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound Region this year; the Electric Eclectics Festival, the Festival of Northern Lights and the International Plowing Match.
