Fewer free breakfasts but more Internet access at U.S. hotels

NEW YORK - Fewer U.S. hotels are offering free breakfasts, more are charging for late cancellation, and more are offering free in-room wireless Internet access. Ironically, though, the more you pay for your room, the less likely you are to get free Wi-Fi.

Those are some of the findings from a recent survey of 10,000 hotels conducted by Smith Travel Research for the American Hotel & Lodging Association.

NEW BERLIN, Wis. - Is an authentic African safari on your life-list? Here’s some advice from The Sportsman Channel’s CEO Michael Cooley on how to arrange one without breaking the bank

Tops on Cooley’s list of safari destinations is South Africa’s Kruger National Park, http://www.krugerpark.co.za. Cooley said the park “is managed well with superb infrastructure. For budget-seekers, Kruger Park rest camps offers self-catering lodges, bungalows, family cottages and huts.” He also recommends the Mopani Rest Camp, which is one of the newest camps. The park offers guided safaris, self-drive safaris and even an eight-day safari for disabled travellers.

Once the bear has their attention, those within range of new “whispering window” ads that emit sound over the city’s sidewalks get a prompt on their cellphones to watch a free short video showing a mish-mash of Canadian scenes.
